Study Abroad Application Intro Video Requirement As part of the study abroad application process, each applicant must submit a 3–5 minute introductory video. The purpose of the video is to help the selection committee learn more about the applicant’s readiness, maturity, adaptability, communication skills, and interest in participating in a study abroad experience. This video does not need to be professionally edited. Applicants should speak clearly, present themselves appropriately, and respond thoughtfully to the selected questions.
Video Guidelines: Video length: 3–5 minutes Format: Applicant should speak directly to the camera Editing: No special editing, music, graphics, or effects are required Tone: Professional, honest, and reflective Submission: Follow the application instructions for uploading or sharing the video
Required Video Content: Applicants must answer at least four of the following questions in their video: Describe a time you faced adversity or an unfamiliar challenge. How did you handle the situation? How would you rate your level of independence? Provide an example that shows your ability to manage responsibilities, solve problems, or make decisions on your own. How adaptable are you when plans change or when you are placed in a new environment? Provide an example How comfortable are you in new or unfamiliar circumstances? What helps you adjust? How would you represent the college while participating in a study abroad program? Describe any past travel experience you have. If you have not traveled much, describe another experience where you had to be independent, adaptable, or comfortable in a new environment.
Additional Expectations: Applicants should use the video to demonstrate that they are prepared to participate respectfully, responsibly, and professionally in a study abroad experience. Strong responses will include specific examples rather than general statements.
